An undefeated opening weekend for Rivers FC as it began League1 BC play at Hillside Stadium.
The women’s team got things going Sunday afternoon beating Altitude FC of North Vancouver 2-0.
Both Emily Clark – who scored the first ever goal in Rivers FC history – and Camryn Curts found the back of the net, to the delight of a boisterous crowd of around 700 people.
Clark opened the scoring in the 30th minute, while Curts added the second eight minutes into the second half.
In the men’s game, a second half stoppage time penalty by Daniel Sagno earned Rivers FC a 1-1 draw with the last kick of the game.
His goal cancelled out Brandon Bangambee’s opening marker for Altitude FC that came in the 44th minute.
Next up for Rivers FC will be a pair of games against TSS Rovers of Burnaby next Sunday, May 29. The men’s game is slated for 2 p.m. with the women to follow at 4:30 p.m.
