Pre-sales for one of the City Gardens Towers downtown on Saturday have defied expectations.
Of the 150 suites available in the 24-story Trillium tower to be built, 83 of them were sold in one day.
Relator Brendan Shaw says he had a feeling the sales were going to be successful, just based off the public interest leading up to May 28.
He says some people were seen waiting in line at 2 a.m. on Saturday.
“They would have thought that getting in line that early would have put them right at the front but there were a few people there just prior to just after midnight, so it certainly made for a busy opening when we opened the sales office at 10 a.m.”
The first five to six people in line were local Kamloopsians who Shaw explains were purchasing a condo to downsize from their current home in the area.
“The majority of purchasers that bought the first day were local buyers and the vast majority of those were either first time home buyers, professionals or empty nesters that were just looking for a place to downsize into in the next three or four years.”
Shaw argues Saturday’s pre-sale was record breaking.
“For our office, we more than doubled our previous record for pre sales in one day, so it was quite encouraging to see that.”
He says the sales also broke records for the highest price for condo sales in Kamloops as well as highest price per square foot in the city.
The next phase of sales for the City Gardens is expected to be announced soon. A link for people to register can be found here.
