An evacuation alert has been issued for 27 homes in the Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park on Highway 97A due to rain in the forecast.
The District of Sicamous says the threat of a landslide near Wiseman Creek is increasing, adding it may pose a risk to life, health or property.
The alert covers houses 1 to 27 in the Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park – the same properties that were put on an evacuation alert last month due to the threat of a landslide. That particular alert was put in place on May 5, and rescinded on May 9.
“Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions,” the CSRD statement said.
A recent report identified a nearly 100 per cent chance of a landslide or debris flow in the area sometime in the next two years. The District is in the process of installing a landslide early warning system in an effort to keep people in the mobile home park safe.
