Drive BC has confirmed the slides which led to the closure of the TransCanada Highway between Lytton and Spences Bridge have been cleared.
CLEAR – #BCHwy1 The highway has reopened between #SpencesBridge and #Lytton after being closed due to mud on the road. Expect some delays to remain due to congestion.

Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge was closed overnight due to rain iand the potential for debris flows.
The Ministry of Transportation says the closure was a proactive one, although Drive BC said earlier Friday the highway was closed because of debris and mud on the road.
Portions of Highway 1 were washed away by floods last November, after the area was scorched by wildfires in the summer, which lead to reduced slope stability and the increased possibility of landslides.
Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge which was washed away in November remains closed, with repairs still taking place.
