A heads up to Kamloops residents as Kruger will be testing the alarm systems at the pulp mill at about 10 a.m. tomorrow, June 7.
The Montreal-based company says it will also be holding a mill evacuation drill at that time.
“This is an internal exercise which is part of our emergency preparedness procedures, and we expect it to take about 90 minutes during which time the mill alarms may be heard by community members in the area,” Kristin Dangelmaier, the Manager of Environment, Quality & Technical, at the mill said.
“We just wanted to keep you apprised.”
Kamloops Fire Rescue and other emergency response personnel will also be on scene Thursday morning, with Dangelmaier noting the mill itself will continue to operate with designated personnel while the drill is taking place.
The sale of the Kamloops pulp mill from Domtar to Kruger was completed last week.
