A city-wide test alert is set to go out Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 in the morning. The city of Kamloops will be trying out its emergency notification system, Voyent Alert!.

The test will go out by text, phone call, email, and as a notification through the app itself. How you receive the test will depend on what type of messaging you have signed up to get.

Registered users are encouraged to double check that the app is active on their devices and also to ensure their locations are positioned accurately. You can do so through the Voyent Alert! app itself or by logging in at Kamloops.ca/Voyent.

Communications Supervisor Kristen Rodrigue says it is an opportunity to experience what to expect in the event of a critical alert, such as an evacuation order. “We encourage all residents to register for Voyent Alert! ahead of the 2022 flood and wildfire seasons.”

“This system will be a vital way of alerting and updating the public. If used, the notification will include important information about the event and instructions for if any action is required. ”
