The City of Kamloops has shut down comments on its Facebook page
Citing a “decline in civility,” the City of Kamloops has disabled comments on its Facebook page, effective today, June 15.
“The decline in civility…affects many things, including our staff’s mental health, job seekers’ perception of Kamloops, the spread of misinformation, and participation levels from those respectful users who are interested in understanding information about our programs and services,” the City said, in a facebook post Wednesday.
People can still react to and share posts that are made on the City of Kamloops Facebook page.
They’re also being encouraged to send comments and questions by phone or by email, or at Council Meetings, public hearings, the Civic Operations call centre, public engagement events, or project pages on LetsTalk.Kamloops.ca.
“Thank you to all of our followers who have taken the time to engage with us in a positive manner,” the post added
“We hope you will continue sharing our information and providing meaningful input into city projects.”
