The BC Wildfire Service says the Robertson Creek wildfire, northwest of Cache Creek, is still burning out of control at 1.6 hectares in size.
Information Officer, Shaelee Stearns, tells NL News there are seven firefighters on scene today.
“They are assisted by two helicopters that are helping in the delivery of water up into the terrain there for them,” Stearns said. “The fire is burning rank one right now, so that means it is a smouldering ground fire.”
No structures are being threatened by this lightning-caused fire, which is burning less than five kilometres south of the Maria Creek wildfire. The Wildfire Service said yesterday is was burning rank two and three with “occasional” candling in inaccessible terrain and dense timber.
“Operations says there might be some pockets of Rank 2 in there so just some smaller areas of surface fire,” Stearns added. “Right now, though we’re mainly seeing that Rank 1 fire behaviour, not much open flame and light smoke coming off of it.”
