The City of Kamloops says all westbound traffic on Victoria Street West will be detoured over the Overlanders Bridge onto Fortune Drive and Leigh Road before returning back to the bridge.
It will be in place on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Sept. 6 to the 23.
“As a requirement of a land transaction with CP Rail to permit the construction of additional road surface and landscaping at the westerly end of the Victoria Street West Improvement Project, the City committed to building a safety fence from the Overlanders Bridge to the west side of the Sun Life building,” Capital Projects Manager, Darren Crundwell said.
While the detour is set to be in place for three weeks, the work – which is being done by Urban Appeal Landscaping – is set to be completed by mid-October.
Crundwell says eastbound traffic and access to Victoria Street West businesses will be maintained at all times, though there will be some delays at times.
Drivers are being told to avoid the area, if they can, and to follow all traffic control personnel and signs while in the construction zone.
