The emergency department in Ashcroft will be closed this weekend due to a lack of nurses.

Interior Health says the Ashcroft ER, which is currently only open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, will be closed today through to Sunday. Sept. 2 to 4.

People are being told to head to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops if they need to access care this weekend.

They’re also being told to call 911 if they need life-threatening emergency care.
