The BC Wildfire Service is responding to the Gates Creek fire located approximately 67 kilometres east of Salmon Arm.
The out of control wildfire has grown since it was first found on Thursday morning, estimated at 280 hectares in size as of 4 p.m. today.
As of 11:50 a.m. the Gates Creek wildfire was roughly 200 hectares in size.
Fire information officer, Melanie Bibeau says BC Wildfire personnel are working to control the blaze.
“We currently have 7 personnel on scene and 2 helicopters supporting.”
Bibeau says there are no structures at risk because of this fire which is located near Monashee Provincial Park.
“The crews are working in accessible areas of the fire but there are portions of the fire which are in steep terrain.”
It is not know what caused this fire, which the Wildfire Service says was discovered Thursday.
