Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses after Westsyde home owner was assaulted in her home and robbed of a bag of potatoes last night.
Police say they were called to a home invasion the 1900-block of Westsyde Road just after 10 p.m. after a woman got into a house and assaulted the owner with a weapon.
“According to the report, the homeowner heard a noise inside their house, went to see what it was, and discovered a strange woman near the kitchen,” spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said, in a statement, noting the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Services Unit was on scene earlier today.
“When the homeowner told the woman to leave and that she was calling police, the suspect allegedly hit her with an object, then attempted to assault her with a knife. The homeowner was eventually able to get the woman out, but not before the suspect grabbed a bag of potatoes from the kitchen.”
The suspect is described as an Indigenous woman, about five-foot-five with a thin build. Police say she was wearing glasses, a black coat, and white jeans at the time.
