The City of Kamloops says about 100 homes were evacuated this morning after a natural gas main was damaged in Valleyview.
Kamloops firefighters and FortisBC crews were called to the area of Crescent Drive and Highland Road around around 11:30 a.m. this morning.
“KFR is reminding evacuated residents to follow the direction of emergency personnel on scene and to not return to their homes until they’ve been instructed by FortisBC to do so,” the City said in a statement.
“Community Services Officers are on site to assist.”
There is currently no estimated time as to when repairs will be complete.
The city also says crews will be monitoring conditions until the repairs are completed, with residents being told they may notice the smell of rotten eggs. If the smell is strong, or if people have concerns, they’re being told to call 911.
