The Kamloops Blazers beat the Spokane Chiefs 4-2 for their first win of the 2022-23 WHL season.
The Chiefs made it a battle in the third period of their home opener, but it was the Blazers who prevailed at Spokane Arena on Saturday night.
Connor Levis opened the scoring on the power play two minutes into the first period as goals from Matthew Seminoff, Caedan Bankier, and Ethan Brandwood had the Blazers up 4-0 early in the third period.
Grady Lane and Cade Hayes cut the Blazers lead into half in the third period, but Kamloops held on for the win.
Dylan Ernst had 33 saves in the win while Mason Beaupit made 20 saves in a losing effort for the Chiefs.
The Blazers next play a pair of home games against the Victoria Royals at Sandman Centre on Friday, Oct. 7, and again on Saturday, Oct. 8.
