Daylan Kuefer and Kaden Hammell scored powerplay goals in the first period as the Kamloops Blazers stretched their win streak over the Victoria Royals to 23 games with a 3-1 win Saturday night.
Kuefler, who spent time at NHL and AHL training camps within the New York Islanders organization, opened the scoring, with Hammell adding what was the game winning goal late in the first period.
Matthew Hodson scored his second in as many nights at Sandman Centre to tie the game at 1-1 midway through the first, before Caedan Bankier scored his team leading third goal of the season in the final minute of the third to put the game out of Victoria’s reach.
Michael Schnattinger made 17 saves for his first ever WHL win while Tyler Palmer had 39 saves in a losing effort for the Royals.
The Blazers head south to play Tri-City on Thursday, Oct. 14 and Portland next Friday, Oct. 15. Their next home game is Tuesday, Oct. 18 against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
