A Kamloops couple will be able to stay warm this winter and cool next summer thanks to a local heating and air conditioning company.
Hadwin’s HVAC is behind ‘Feel the Love’, an initiative that gives out a complete heating and air conditioning system to a local family in need.
Appearing on the NL Morning News, General Manager Madison Fujita, explains how Hadwin’s wanted to get involved.
“We did a little bit of light advertising, letting the community know we wanted to extend a hand and offer this great service where we will provide a heating and cooling system. This particular family, their daughter nominated them.”
Fujita says the couple that was chosen have a particularly rough go of it as of late, including the death of one of their children.
“We went through our nomination list, we read their amazing story with Angela and Rod there, it really touched our hearts, just they massive loss their family suffered as well as Rod suffered a work place injury back in the day. It’s been challenging for them to find sufficient work and to make these major home upgrades.”
Choosing which home to receive the donation wasn’t easy according to Fujita as they took in a lot of nominations.
“You know it’s incredibly difficult and we’ve heard many touching stories out there and we wish we can help more than just one family in the community but Angela and Rod are definitely very deserving people, the things they’ve gone through, we really connected with it and we just felt that they were a perfect fit for our company to out and help them out.”
Lennox started this in various communities a few years ago and according to their website, has given away more than 1,000 furnaces since it’s beginning.
The package is worth around $15,000 dollars and Fujita says they’re getting help from a local electrical company with the wiring.
“Our friends over at RG Dunn are going to help us provide all the electrical for Angela and Rod. Between Hadwin’s, Lennox and our friends at RG Dunn we’re going to go in there and do the whole system.”
Fujita says it’ll be all hands on deck for the company as they plan to do the job all in one day.
“We’re going to have our whole crew down there, we’re going to finish this job in a one day span and we’re also going to have a nice barbeque with the family we’ll have our tent set up and anyone can come by and join us.”
The event is taking place today.
