Mounties say a man in his 40s is dead after he was hit by a truck in downtown Kamloops on Saturday night.
Police say they were called to the 200-block of Victoria Street West around 7:20 p.m. after the man was hit by a westbound truck as he was trying to cross the road.
In a statement, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the man was taken to Royal Inland Hospital in a critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“Members of the Kamloops RCMP Municipal Detachment are investigating the collision and so far, they have examined and surveyed the collision scene, spoke with witnesses, and obtained related video footage,” Evelyn said.
“The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with this ongoing investigation.”
If you happened to witness the crash or have information that you haven’t already shared with police, Evelyn says to reach out to the RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-37051.
