Days after a Kamloops apartment building was ordered evacuated by the fire chief, there are no clear answers from anyone at the City, or local social agencies about where all those tenants ended up.
Radio NL either received no response from city officials, or they were unable to say – because they didn’t know – just how many tenants were displaced, how many ended up in hotels, and how many are simply now on the streets.
Alfred Achoba, the Executive Director of the Kamloops branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, says if the City doesn’t hold this landlord accountable, he thinks others will try and use the fire department to effectively evict tenants for them.
