The Royal Inland Hospital Foundation’s Evening Auxiliary is bringing its Craft-A-Fair fundraiser back to Kamloops, with an even bigger event this year.
After a two-year hiatus, Auxiliary Vice President Carol Frost says nearly 200 crafters are expected to fill the Sandman Centre on the first Sunday of November for the 36th anniversary craft sale.
“There is a wide variety, there’s jewelry, and pottery that you would use year-round, clothing, there’s a bakery where if you get hungry there is always something good to eat and there are jams and cakes and you know, craft fair stuff.”
Frost says the event expanded this year, to three areas of the Sandman Centre, including on the ice, in the concourse, and the sports lounge centre.
“There are elevators to take you down to the ice surface,” she said.
“It’s a big day, you could spend the whole day going through the craft fair, but we try and spread everything out enough that if you just feel up to doing one area, you are still going to get a good variety of crafts to choose from.”
All the proceeds from the event will go towards new equipment at the Royal Inland Hospital, explains Frost.
“We have been helping to furnish the pediatrics and baby unit at the new hospital. Over the last few years, most of our funds have gone into the actual building of the new part of the hospital, but now we are helping to furnish it.”
The 2022 Craft-A-Fair is taking place on November 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sandman Centre. Tickets are only available at the door on the day of the event for $2 each.
