The Kamloops Blazers scored four goals in the first period for the second time in as many nights en route to a 7-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs Saturday.
Kyle Masters opened the scoring 2:07 into the game, with Kaden Hammell, Logan Stankoven, and Daylan Kuefler also finding the back of the net in the opening 20 minutes.
Kuefler and Fraser Minten added to the Blazers’ tally in the second before Stankoven scored his second of the night – and fourth of the weekend – midway through the third period.
Grady Lane gave the hometown fans something to cheer about 40 seconds later, ending the Blazers’ shutout bid with a little over 11 minutes to play.
Dylan Ernst made 25 saves for his second win of the weekend, while Mason Beaupit took the loss, allowing six goals on 28 shots. Cooper Michaluk stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced in relief.
Both Kyle Masters (two goals, four assists) and Logan Stankoven (four goals, two assists) had six point weekends in the home and home against Spokane, while Fraser Minten (one goal, four assists) had a five point weekend of his own.
With 13 points in 11 games this season, Masters is one point away from the career high 14 points he set in 65 games with Red Deer last season, while Stankoven has a team leading 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in just eight games.
Next up for the Blazers is a road game in Kelowna on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Their next home game is Wednesday, Nov. 9 against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
