The Snow Angels program in Kamloops is looking for volunteers to help shovel driveways and sidewalks for seniors and others who aren’t able to do it themselves.
Program coordinator Anita Jacobsen says their phones have been ringing off the hook with volunteers unable to keep up.
She says the call for volunteers is going out a little bit earlier than usual this year, owing to the snow that has been falling since Thursday.
“Having safe access allows them to retain independence, be able to get groceries and to go to medical appointments,” Jacobsen said.
“They also need their driveways and walkways clear for in home care to be able to get to them safely. Without your help, they are trapped. With this snow we have many seniors reaching out for help.”
Jacobsen says all volunteers will get a personal pizza courtesy Pizza Now each time they clear snow. They will also be entered into a monthly draw to win a family meal.
