The Mustard Seed in Kamloops is launching its 12 Days of Giving Christmas Campaign on Monday, in an effort to help those experiencing homelessness in our city.
Kelly Thomson, the Mustard Seed’s Managing Director says the holiday season is a very difficult for many vulnerable people in our community.
“They are separated from family and feel that they have no hope. It is important that we talk with them and offer them hope for a better future. Their book is not fully written, they can escape the drugs and street life if they want to, and we are here to help with that.”
Katie Hutchins, the head of administration at the Mustard Seed says the donation drive will kick off on Monday, December 12 and will run through December 23.
“Each day we are going to be putting out social media posts on what we are asking for on that given day; so each day will have a different item that we are requesting.”
She says they will be requesting various different items over the 12 day campaign including but not limited to winter specific items, and toiletries.
“Especially in the winter, we will be asking for more warm clothing, some things you might not think about like underwear, toothpaste and stuff that most of us have at our house all the time. For a lot of people, they don’t have access to that.”
Hutchins says drop off locations will include Hub International, Interior Savings Credit Union, Starbucks, H&R Block, the Mustard Seed Thrift Store, Pizza Now, and Taste Kitchen.
