A major coup for the Kamloops Blazers — and for one in-particular.
The Team Canada World Juniors roster has been announced, with forward Caedan Bankier earning a spot on the squad.
Blazers Assistant GM Tim O’Donovan says he’s not really that surprised by it.
“Every guy that gets invited has an opportunity. And Caedan’s really taken the bull by the horns this year and earned himself a spot there,” said O’Donovan. “It’s kudos to him and what he’s done.”
Bankier will join Logan Stankoven as the two Blazers representatives on the squad.
Stankoven was considered a lock for another slot on Team Canada.
This is the 3rd straight World Juniors where Kamloops has had two players on the team.
Connor Zary and Dylan Garand cracked the roster two years ago, while Garand and Stankoven represented Canada in August.
There it is…. two Blazers. Stankoven and Bankier have made @TeamCanada. Bankier wasn’t even invited to the summer camp and he makes it outright. Quite an accomplishment. Two guys to cheer for over the Holidays. #Kamloops https://t.co/ic3DkubTpw
