If you’re ever wanted to learn the ukulele, the Thomson Nicola Regional Library is giving you the chance to sign one out and they aren’t your everyday, run of the mill version of the instrument.
Earlier this year, the library teamed up with international award winning Riversong Guitars, to allow people to sign out one of 30 guitars.
Spokesperson for the TNRL, Dara Hill, said after the success of their partnership with Riversong, loaning out their ukuleles made perfect sense.
“We want to continue to grow and learn musically together in the TNRD with the library so we thought what’s next, what else can we do? There’s so many people waiting for these guitars, it’s obviously, there’s interest there so, we thought ukuleles and Mike (Miltimore) was so great about thinking it through, how we can bring those two to our patrons and make that program possible.”
“So, we have 30 ukuleles now that are available for anyone in our library system to borrow at any of our 12 branches or the mobile library.”
She says if you’re interested, you should look into reserving your instrument soon. “I’m guessing, like the guitars, there going to be a hold queue so you might not see them out and about in the library but head to our website, and place your hold on it so that you’re in the line, you’re in the queue and we’re so excited to see what folks get up to with ukuleles.”
Hill says it’s pretty simple to get your hands on one of the instruments. “Even if you’ve never been to the library before it’s super easy. You can either head to any of our branches or go online to get your library card. All you need to do is be a TNRD resident, it’s free for everyone to get their library card. Really, all you have to do is sign up for your card and you’re ready to start borrowing.”
