Kamloops RCMP say the bones discovered near Peterson Creek last week have been identified as that of missing Kelowna man Joseph Driscoll.
Mounties say at this time, criminality is not suspected in the death of the 42-year-old man who was last seen walking behind the Tournament Inn in Valleyview in the early hours of Nov. 12, 2022, and reported missing three days later.
In a news release Friday, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, says police were notified about the discovery of the bones east of Peterson Creek, west of Rose Hill, above the 700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway, last Thursday, Jan. 19.
“In working with the BC Coroner’s Service and with the Driscoll family, police can now confirm the bones did in fact belong to Joseph, and that he is deceased,” she said. “We do not suspect criminality in his disappearance at this time. Our thoughts go out to the Driscoll family.”
Evelyn says police and the BC Coroners Service are working on concurrent investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Driscoll’s remains.
If you have information, or if you came across other bones in the area, Evelyn says to reach out to Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2023-2261.
