Olen Zellweger celebrates after the first of two goals on the night in an eventual 7-3 Blazers loss at Medicine Hat/via WHL
The Blazers winning streak came to an end on Saturday, as they were beaten 7-3 by the Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday night.
Olen Zellweger would get the Blazers on the board first with his 21st of the year just over two-minutes into the first.
However, the Tigers would answer back around six minutes later, then score again to take a 2-1 lead into the dressing room after the first.
Medicine Hat would take any wind out of the Blazers’ sails early in the second, with a goal by Andrew Basha 20-seconds into the frame for the 3-1 lead.
The Tigers would add one more before Olen Zellweger would notch his second of the game to make it 4-2.
While a comeback did seem possible, Medicine Hat would score with three seconds left in the middle frame to make it a 5-2 game.
Basha scored early in the third before Caedan Bankier made it a 6-3 game, before an empty-netter from the Tigers put the cap on – what had been to that point – a textbook road swing for the Blazers.
Kamloops still comes out of the Central swing with five wins, putting them at 38-11-4-2 on the season, with a virtual lock on the BC Division title. They’re also have a solid hold on second place in the Western Conference, five points up on Portland, but still ten back of Seattle.
The Blazers entertain Kelowna on Friday as part of a weekend home-and-home with the Rockets.
