Kamloops RCMP say an Ontario man in his 30s is in custody after a reported assault and a pair of thefts in Kamloops prompted three separate police responses in a two hour span on Monday.
Police say they were called to the 300-block of St. Paul Street just after noon yesterday, Feb. 27, to reports that a man had allegedly stolen a bottle of liquor before hitting an employee who tried to stop him.
Less than an hour later, they were called to a store on the 900-block of Columbia Street West to reports that a man was screaming at people and throwing items in a parking lot.
It wasn’t until 2:05 p.m. when police caught up to the man after they were called to another robbery, this time at a store on the 1800-block of Highway 5A. Police did not say what was was allegedly stolen from this store.
“The suspect in all three incidents appeared to be the same person,” RCMP spokesperson, Corporal Crystal Evelyn, said.
“Thanks to the assistance from community partners and the quick response of frontline officers, the suspect was located soon after at Summit Drive and Robson Street and taken into custody without further incident.”
Evelyn says the suspect is in custody awaiting a bail hearing and word on charges.
If you witnesses either incident, or have information about the ongoing investigation, Evelyn says to contact Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2023-6763.
