Kamloops Council has given preliminary approval to a new six-storey, 51-unit multi-family building in the Aberdeen area.
It is set to rise at 1835 Rogers Place, near the Trans-Canada Highway, at the site of the Tang Court Buffet restaurant.
The City’s Engineering Director Marvin Kwiatkowski says the developers are proposing to add 39 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom strata-titled condos to this building. They’re also proposing to add 68 parking stalls and 51 bicycle stalls, both of which meet city bylaw requirements.
“This will be going, if council moves it forward to a public hearing so that we have opportunities for questions and to hear from the public,” he said at Tuesday’s council meeting.
The property is currently zoned for commercial use, with Kwiatkowski saying the developers have also applied to rezone it so they can move ahead with this project.”
“So we’ll go right to the recommendation for council to authorize the zoning amendment bylaw be introduced and read for a first and second time and that it be moved to a public hearing,” Kwiatkowski added.
While the next public hearing is scheduled for March 28, it is not clear yet if this proposal will be on that agenda at that meeting.
