UPDATE March 5 6:15 a.m. – The Coquihalla between Kamloops and Merritt has reopened in both directions after a multi-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes near the Surrey lake Summit.
Video shared on Facebook showed three semis involved in the crash, though other details are not known at this time.
The eight-and-a-half hour closure began around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, less than five hours after the Hope to Merritt section reopened to traffic following a lengthy closure.
The Hope to Merritt section of the Coquihalla was closed in both directions for 35 hours between 5:30 a.m. Friday and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with the exception of a three hour window Friday morning when the northbound lanes were open following a crash at the Ladner Creek Bridge.
