
UPDATE 3:30 p.m. – Kamloops Mounties say a man was taken into custody following a large police presence in the area of Lac Du Bois Road this afternoon.
Officers responded to the 2300 block if Lac Du Bois Road around noon today following a due to a weapons report.
Upon their arrival, police were able to locate a man who was known to them, noting he was uncooperative when told he was under arrest for firearms related offences
At the time, it was unknown if any other weapons were in his possession, which prompted Mounties to ask people to avoid that part of Kamloops.
“In the interest of public and police safety, a number of officers attended and the public was requested to please avoid the area,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
Eventually, the man was located and taken into custody without further incident.
“With the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, Southeast District Emergency Response Team, frontline officers, and other support units, the man was located and taken into custody without further incident.”
Since its still early in the investigation, Mounties are asking anyone with information to contact them.
