The BC Wildfire Service says the Napier Lake wildfire, south of Kamloops, is being held at 65 hectares in size.
Fire Information Officer, Nicole Bonnett, says an initial attack crew – comprised of four people – is on scene today patrolling the fire and putting out any hotspots.
The fire sparked yesterday afternoon about 30 kilometres south of Kamloops near Highway 5A. It quickly grew in size from 25 hectares to its current size.
“It is still quite dry out until we get some precipitation in the area,” Bonnett told NL News.
No word on a potential cause just yet.
“The fire origin and cause team went out yesterday to do an investigation and that process takes some time so we wont have a final answer for a while,” she added.
The Napier Lake fire is the largest in a series of spot fires that have ignited in the last two weeks of March with spring-like weather returning to the Kamloops area.
