Police say bloody blue Ikea rug that was recently turned into the Barriere detachment is linked to the murder of a Kamloops-area man, Peter Daniel Casimir.
Mounties say he also went by the name Jake Maserski, and that his killing was targeted with “no danger to the public.”
No other details were released by police Monday afternoon including when or where Casimir was murdered or whether his body has been recovered.
Staff Sgt. Jason Smart of the South East District Major Crime Unit says investigators are looking to establish a timeline of Casimir’s movements and the people he might have come in contact with this year, particularly in the month of March.
Investigators are also looking to piece together how the the five-by-eight-foot Ikea area rug ended up at the Barriere RCMP detachment.
People with information are being told to contact the South East District Major Crime Unit Tip Line at 1-877-987-8477.
