Kamloops RCMP are investigating an early morning fire at a home on Seymour Street downtown.
Police say they were at an address in the 600-block of Seymour Street when they were alerted to the fire three blocks down the street, in the 900 block of Seymour Street.
“The officers attended and observed the west side of a residence on fire,” RCMP spokesperson Corporal Crystal Evelyn said. “They knocked on the doors and windows and yelled into the residence to alert anyone who might be inside, but no one responded.”
It didn’t take long for firefighters to put out the fire, with Evelyn noting that Kamloops Fire and Rescue also confirmed that no one was inside. The cause of the fire and the amount of damage to the home is not clear.
“Right now, it’s too early in the investigation to make any assumptions into the cause of the fire, including if it’s suspicious,” Evelyn added.
She says anyone who witnessed the fire or have pictures or video of it, are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment and reference file 2023-11551.
