RCMP say one person was taken to hospital after a single vehicle crash near the Overlanders Bridge just after midnight last Friday.
Mounties say an older model Mercedes appeared to have left the road where it hit a concrete barrier on the right before the driver overcorrected to the left and hit two light standards, before coming to a rest.
Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet told NL News the driver and a passenger fled on foot before police got to the scene. A third passenger, a 29-year-old Kamloops man was taken to hospital to be assessed.
Shoihet says work to identify the driver and passenger – and the cause of the crash – is still on-going.
