Interior Health says there will be no scheduled and walk-in appointments at the Ashcroft Urgent and Primary Care Centre this Saturday, May 20, due to a lack of doctors and nurses.
The health authority says patients who had appointments will be rebooked at the earliest available date. They say people can also call the Kamloops Urgent Primary Care and Learning Centre at 250-314-2256 to book same-day appointments.
“People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility,” IH said in a statement.
IH also says anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 or head online here for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
The Ashcroft UPCC is normally open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
