Tourism Kamloops officials are in Quebec City for some tourism “speed dating” with tour operators from all over the world.
Lisa Strachan, the Director of destination development and trade relations says they are promoting the Tournament Capital at Rendez-vous Canada – the largest tourism trade show in the country.
“It is a bit like speed dating, we have 80 appointments in three days and we sit down with tour operators from all around the world – such as Germany, Australia, the UK, and the USA to name a few.”
She says each “appointment” gives them two minutes to tell these tour operators what Kamloops has to offer.

“We have sort of our pitch, but they are all coming at us with different questions,” said Strachan.
“Some of them already do Kamloops, they have maybe bus tours that come through and they are asking ‘do you have any new restaurants’ or some of them don’t even know where we are; so every single appointment is very different.”
Strachan says their goal is to increase awareness of Kamloops.
“Anybody who is thinking of adding to an itinerary, we would like them to consider Kamloops and just tell them about all the cool things we have to offer.”
Rendez-vous Canada runs from May 30 to June 3 this year in Quebec City.
