BC Hydro says thousands of people in Kamloops and the North Thompson are without power this afternoon due to a transmission circuit failure.
The utility says power was knocked out to about 12,000 customers just before 3:00 p.m., June 8.
Properties that are affected stretch from Valemount south through Barriere and Sun Peaks into Kamloops. That includes Blackpool, Black Pines, Blue River, Clearwater, Little Fort, Vinsulla, and Whitecroft among others.
According to BC Hydro’s outage map, people in Heffley Creek and Rayleigh are also without power this afternoon.
BC Hydro says crews have been assigned to all of the outages, though its not clear when power will be restored.
