A Saturday afternoon traffic stop led to a substantial drug seizure in Kamloops.
An RCMP officer was patrolling the North Shore when he saw a vehicle fail to stop before turning onto Lethbridge Avenue around 4 p.m. on June 24.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the officer then pulled the driver over, which is when hundreds of grams of suspected illegal drugs were found.
“Approximately three quarters of a kilo of suspected illegal drugs were seized as a result, including cocaine, meth, and opioids, in additional to paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and more than $6,000 in cash,” said Evelyn.
As part of the investigation, the driver and passenger in the vehicle were arrested for drug possession and trafficking.
However, both suspects were released, pending the investigation’s conclusion.
