Interior Health has issued a drug alert in Kamloops warning of a very high risk of fatal overdose.

The alert posted Wednesday, June 28, says samples of brown granules being sold as “down” have been found to contain fentanyl, bromazolam, caffeine, and magnesium sulfate.

The alert will remain in effect until at least July 5.

People who use drugs are encouraged to check their substances for purity and to never use alone.
