Fresh off hosting the 2023 Memorial Cup, the Kamloops Blazers continue to build for the future by signing a pair of 2008-born defencemen to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements.
Dryden Deobald and Kaden Meyer were the Blazers first two selections in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft held in May.
Deobald, a Regina native, was the Blazers third round pick. The six-foot-one defenceman had 43 points (22 goals and 21 assists) in 28 games with the Regina Monarchs of the Saskatchewan U15 AA Hockey League.
Meyer was taken in the sixth round of the draft. The six-foot-three Delta native had 24 points (eight goals and 16 assists) in 25 games with the Greater Vancouver Canadians U15 AAA team last season.
“We would like to welcome Dryden and Kaden and their families to the Kamloops Blazers organization,” Blazers Head Coach and General Manager, Shaun Clouston, said.
“We look forward to being a part of their development over the coming seasons.”
Deobald and Meyer are the first 2008-born players to sign with the Blazers. In all, Kamloops drafted 12 players – seven forwards, four defensemen, and a goaltender in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
