A Canadian Pacific (CP) Police Service officer was injured while arresting a man during Canada Day celebrations in Kamloops.
At roughly 8 p.m. on July 1, Kamloops Mounties were on route to a disturbance call when they were notified a CP Police officer had located and allegedly been assaulted by the suspect while arresting him.
Spokesperson Corporal Crystal Evelyn says Kamloops RCMP officers took over custody of the suspect and arrested him for assaulting a police officer.
“The CP officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury. As part of the investigation, police interviewed witnesses on scene, but if anyone else saw or knows anything related to this incident, please do not hesitate to reach out and share that information.”
Authorities say the suspect was lodged in cells to sober up safely and was then released with a court date and conditions.
Police say charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process.
