A Kamloops RCMP officer is expected to be fine, following a somewhat bizarre call late Monday afternoon.
Responding to a dropped 9-1-1 call, the Mounties were dispatched to a home on Morris Place in the Dallas area shortly before 6pm.
When they arrived, they were told an intoxicated woman had been running around outside naked and was — according to Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Corporal Crystal Evelyn — “possibly experiencing a mental health crisis.”
After knocking on the door, this is when things took a turn.
“While members were attempting to speak with the woman, she allegedly assaulted them,” said Corporal Evelyn. “The woman was arrested and a struggle ensured, leading to one of the officers getting injured.”
RCMP say the woman remained combative even after being taken to the detachment.
“She was held in custody to sober up safely, then connected with community services,” said Evelyn. “The officer’s injury was non-life threatening.”
