Kamloops Mounties are asking for help in identifying a suspect who was seen lighting a fire at a construction site in Aberdeen early Friday morning.
Officers responded to the 2100-block of Van Horne Drive just before 5 a.m. July 28 to find Kamloops Fire and Rescue crews working to put out the blaze that had fully engulfed a compact wheel loader.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says video surveillance showed what appeared to be a heaver set, older person arrive in a brown or gold 2005 or 2006 model Honda CRV.
She says the suspect is seen carrying a jerry can towards the loader, before setting it on fire, and speeding away in the vehicle.
“We are asking anyone who lives in the area of the construction site in the 2100 -block of Van Horne Drive to review their surveillance video footage to determine if they captured this vehicle, or occupants coming or going from the site,” Shoihet said.
Shoihet is asking people to review video between 4:30 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. on July 28.
