Former Kamloops Blazer Kyrell Sopotyk continues his athletic journey over two and a half years since a snowboarding accident left him partially paralyzed.
Saturday in Langley, Sopotyk won gold in the men’s T53 800 meter wheelchair race at the Canadian Track & Field Championships.
He also set a new personal best by six seconds in the process.
Sopotyk also earned his 2nd and 3rd golds of the National Championships after winning the 400M and 1500M events on Sunday.
The 21 year-old has also represented his province of Saskatchewan and Canada on a National stage in wheelchair basketball.
The Blazers hosted Kyrell Sopotyk night back in February of 2022.
He played two seasons with the club from 2018 to 2020.
