Police say one person was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with a gunshot wound after a shooting on Schubert Drive near Richmond Avenue in North Kamloops.

Mounties at the scene tell Radio NL’s Brett Mineer the apparent shooting took place in the bushes along the Schubert Drive riverbank.

A number of blocks of Schubert are currently blocked by numerous marked and unmarked police vehicles as officers scour the area looking for evidence.

A number of neighbours told Radio NL that they did not see or hear anything. Many say they arrived home to find their street blocked while others say they were alerted to the incident by the arrival of emergency vehicles.

There is no word on the condition or other details about the victim as well as any possible suspects or motive.

At this time, police are asking neighbours and passersby on Schubert Drive to share any dashcam or other relevant video that might help investigators piece together what happened.
