Kamloops RCMP say a 40-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious injuries after a shooting on Schubert Drive near Richmond Avenue on Monday evening.
Mounties say they were called to the area around 5:30 p.m. July 31, to assist paramedics who were already on scene attending to the woman who was suffering with what appeared to be gun shot wounds.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says the suspect is described as a white man with a shaved head. They say he was wearing black shorts and a white tank top at the time of the shooting.
“At this point we believe the victim and assailant were known to each other and this appears to have been a targeted shooting,” added Superintendent, Jeff Pelley, the Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.
Police still have the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Avenue closed to traffic as they look for witnesses, video surveillance, and evidence. Shoihet says police expect to clear the scene some time Tuesday evening.
“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Ave between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Monday and has information to call us, Pelley added.
“This includes anyone who may have been walking through the trail system, on the beach or traveling or resides on the roadway, and may have surveillance video.”
Those with information are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2023-27542.
