UPDATE 9:30 p.m. – The BC Wildfire Service says the Stolle Creek wildfire located about three kilometres southeast of Little Fort is currently being held at two hectares in size.
Firefighters from the BC Wildfire Service as well as Blackpool, Chu Chua, and Little Fort were all responding to the fire, which at one point, was burning Rank 3 meaning a moderately vigorous surface fire.
“The fire is highly visible to Little Fort, travelers on Highway 5 and surrounding areas,” the BC Wildfire Service said in a tweet just after 4 p.m. Sunday.
At that time, they said there were nine BC Wildfire personnel responding along with crews from the trio of local fire departments. They were being aided by aerial resources that include two helicopters and airtanker support.
Video posted to Facebook showed airtankers dropping fire retardant on this fire around 4:40 p.m. Sunday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
