The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a fire in the Exlou area, south of the District of Barriere.
Now estimated at four hectares in size, the Oliver Creek fire was discovered around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. It is located west of the Bush Creek East fire, that has burned all the way to the shores of Adams Lake.
Pictures shared to Facebook showed a significant amount of flames last night, though an updated picture Friday morning appeared to show reduced fire behaviour.
“This fire is very visible from the highway in Louis Creek,” Barriere Fire Rescue said in a post on Facebook, noting helicopters were expected on scene this morning.
“Barriere Fire will be monitoring the fire throughout the night from Agate Bay and other access points.”
