The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has hired Greg Lowis as its new General Manager of Corporate and Legislative Services.
Lowis has been with the City of Merritt since 2019, working as the Director of Corporate Services. He has also worked in a number of roles including Interim Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Election Officer, and the Emergency Operation Centre’s Public Information Officer.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the TNRD, and supporting the communities across the region of BC’s best,” Lowis said, in a TNRD news release.
A native of the United Kingdom, Lowis has nearly 15 years of local government experience. He takes over from Deanna Campbell, who took over as the new Chief Administrative Officer in Sun Peaks earlier this month.
“We were fortunate to have had many excellent candidates for this position, and are excited to now have Greg join the team with his broad skillset, experience, and enthusiasm,” TNRD CAO, Scott Hildebrand, said.
“I’m confident that Greg will help us build on positive changes to policies and procedures that we have made as an organization. We are grateful for Deanna’s contributions over her years of service with the TNRD and we are thrilled for this next step in her career.”
Lowis is the second high-profile departure from the City of Merritt his year, following CAO Sean Smith, who took a job in the private sector in July. Smith took over from Hildebrand as Merritt CAO in Aug. 2022 after Hildebrand was hired by the TNRD.
Lowis will begin in his new role at the TNRD in late September.
