Kamloops RCMP say two people are in custody after their attempt to flee from a traffic stop led to a crash on the Summit Connector.
Mounties say an officer on patrol tried to stop a black SUV for speeding around 9 a.m. this morning, Sept. 1. They say that vehicle sped away and eventually crashed into a concrete no-post barrier at Summit Drive and Victoria Street West.
“Two people were observed fleeing from the vehicle, but thanks to the quick response from officers, they were located and taken into custody soon after, with the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit and Community Service Officers,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, said.
“Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident and no other vehicles were struck. The suspects currently remain in custody while police investigate further.”
Those with information or dash cam footage of the crash or the occupants of the vehicle are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-31663.
